Pathfinder: About Our Facility

Pathfinder is a nonprofit organization established in 1976 in Huntsville, Alabama, providing a transitional residential sober living facility for men. The facility features 38 beds and offers a structured environment for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders.Admission Requirements: To gain admission, applicants must be drug and alcohol-free for a minimum of 72 hours. Individuals with a primary diagnosis of mental illness or severe medical conditions are not eligible for admission. Many residents may have co-occurring mental health conditions. Program Structure: Pathfinder\'s services are organized into four phases, each designed to support residents in their recovery journey: Phase I (Minimum of 6 weeks): Work with a sponsor and continue treatment recommendations from a referring agency. Attend both onsite and offsite recovery meetings. Maintain employment for at least 35 hours per week or be a full-time student. Phase II: Follow through with scheduled appointments and continue developing healthy relationships with peers and staff. Attend group meetings and complete six hours of documented service to the community. Phase III (Minimum of 12 weeks): Maintain personal recovery goals and demonstrate healthy relationships. Develop a financial plan to manage bills and create a comprehensive discharge plan. Phase IV (Optional): Available to residents who have completed three phases and have submitted an application as they approach the end of Phase III. This phase focuses on further integration into the community and sustained recovery. Additional Information: Residents are entitled to receive a completion certificate after successfully finishing the first three phases. Pathfinder begins charging residents after the third week of admission, at which point they expect residents to be employed.
